Came here for my Jury Duty lunch. It's a quick walk from the court house into a small, 4-5 seater counter space. I was greeted by super friendly staff, and ordered the curry goat lunch special. For about $12, I thought it was a SOLID deal. The goat was tender and flavorful, and the gravy coated the rice so well (you can ask to adjust the amount of gravy). I'm drooling just thinking about it again. I devoured that plate, and picked up a beet root juice to go. Small local spot that's totally worth stopping by if you're in the area!
Can't say how many times I have revisited this little "hole online the wall" spot for jerk chicken back and festival. And not only do I order for myself, but for a couple co-workers as well... for lunch and dinner. One co-worker gets the regular jerk chicken with rice etc. Just as great a meal. I try to be early when am in the neighborhood. As tiny as it is, it gets crowded and the door is ever-revolving. Icing on the cake is the owner. Service with a smile and a chat. Beautiful soul. Well done!
We stopped here for lunch before traveling back to the west coast. It's a small diner/restaurant with seating for 4-5 people, counter style. The gospel music was playing (which I like) and the wait staff were nice. I wanted a combo meal, but they didn't serve that and had to get separate plates of oxtail & jerk chicken. The food was amazing. The jerk chicken was tender, had that deep smoky flavor and was spiced well. $8! What a deal. It comes with a side of rice & peas and cabbage. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious. We had a beef patty that was good also. If I'm in that neighborhood again, I'll definitely stop by. Price: $25
The spicy beef patty is one of my favorites here. Service is quick and there is a small table and chairs to have a quick bite. It's $2.85 for a beef patty. The lunch special for two beef Pattie's and water is $6. I had the jerk chicken patty and spicy beef patty and a bottle of water for $7 and some change. Very affordable. This place is amazing and I can't wait to try out their other dishes.
I was in my Mother's kitchen when I walked in this restaurant...the smell is awesome..I ordered the Ackee and salt fish with yams, codfish patty, dumplings, beef and vegetable patty, irish seamoss, ginger beer, and sorrel. I liked my lips so hard...it was delicious hearty and very tasty. My taste buds were dancing with joy all day. I'll be back for sure.
Got some patties here a couple days ago. They were perfect. Great service too! Can't wait to try the rest of menu.
